A professional musician since age 9, Mr. Billiot did not follow the traditional path into education, but rather often struggled in school and was mostly steered away from any higher aspirations into education.
A U.S. Navy Veteran from 1981 – 1985, Mr. Billiot Served as an Aviation Electrician/Electronics Technician in the VAW 116 Sun King Early Warning Aircraft Squadron aboard the U.S.S. Ranger in 1982, and the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk in 1983, earning promotion to Petty Officer and an Honorable Discharge.
Married wife, Angie, in 1985 raising two children, Chlesea (AKA Chelsie B.), 27 and Christopher, II, 23
Mr. Billiot began his higher education career in 1994, at age 32, earning an AA in Criminal Justice at Delgado Community College in 1998. Mr. Billiot would return to College in 2001, earning his BA in Secondary Education at the University of New Orleans in 2008, at age 45.
Mr. Billiot began his teaching career at Slidell High School in a student teaching capacity in 2008.
In 2008, Mr. Billiot was hired to teach American History, U.S. History, and Geography at Kehoe-France School, in Metairie, LA. Mr. Billiot Coached Basketball and Soccer, and developed the first Cross-Country team at that school in 2009. Today, Mr. Billiot continues to coach Cross-Country and Soccer at that school.
Mr. Billiot was at JCFA in 2013. Here he currently teaches Civics, U.S. History, Geography, World History, and Physical Education. Mr. Billiot is excited to have been recently granted ability to begin JCFA’s Drama Club program.
Mr. Billiot has been a member of the New Orleans Police Department, beginning his career in 1991. He worked there investigating Armed Robberies and other violent Street crimes for the majority of his career. He is completing his 25th year of service this year and works in the French Quarter, where he currently serves as a Police Sergeant in the 8th Police District.
Mr. Billiot’s interests include, Travel, Backpacking, Canoeing/Kayaking, Camping, Soccer, Running, Hunting, Fishing, Coaching, Horseback Riding, Civil War History, Theatre, St. Jude Community Center Annual Concert Committee Member, and Music.
