The conference was held at the New Orleans Hyatt Regency on December 12th and 13th. Themed “Leading Together,” the annual LAPCS conference connects representatives from 90 percent of Louisiana’s Charter Schools, serving over 74,000 students.
JCFA Charter Schools serves non-traditional students at three campuses in the Greater New Orleans region. JCFA-East (located at Jefferson Highway and Causeway) works predominately with students in Jefferson Parish’s East bank, while JCFA-West (in Harvey/Gretna) and JCFA-Algiers provide a flexible, alternative curriculum for students living on the Westbank and lower Parishes.
Ms. Harris accepted the award from Innovative Education on behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of JCFA. Given in recognition for innovative practice in academics, finance & operations, or governance, the Innovative Education Award acknowledges JCFA’s efforts to provide a blended on-line curriculum, low teacher-student ratio, and student support services to at-risk and non-traditional populations in the Greater New Orleans region.
