Who We Are
JCFA is a homegrown and locally operated, non-traditional charter school organization born out of the Jefferson Chamber Foundation’s work with the US Department of Labor’s Multiple Education Pathways Blueprint (MEPB)
Project.
JCFA became Jefferson Parish’s first charter high school in 2010, and has since been recognized as an exemplar in alternative education. JCFA is also a proud member of the Louisiana Association of Public Charter
Schools.
Who We Serve
JCFA re-engages and re-connects students who are over-aged and under-credited, ages 15-21, who have either dropped out or are in danger of dropping out exhibiting multiple risk factors, which may include: parenting, economically disadvantaged status, as well as both pre-adjudicated and adjudicated youth.
JCFA’s average student has earned enough credits to be considered a Sophomore and is 17.7 years of age. The student population reflects the local community and often includes a higher-than-average percentage of students with an IEP or IAP as well as a significant population of English Language Learners.
Why We Serve
We believe that all students are capable of excelling academically when given the services they need to focus on their goals and that academic success should not be limited to what is taught in a classroom, but must encourage and include life experiences to help develop the whole student.
A frequently asked question is “What does JCFA stand for?” and we respond that it represents Joy, Commitment, Flexibility, and Achievement. The joy we have in serving our students and their joy from experiencing academic success; the commitment our team makes to each other and our students as well as our students’ commitment to their education; the flexibility our school provides to students in how they access education and accomplish their goals; and the pride we have in and for our students when they achieve their goal of earning a high school diploma.

How We Serve
JCFA provides an individualized, computer-based curriculum in a small environment. Students have direct support from teachers and in-class tutors, as well as a student support team which includes an academic counselor, a social worker, special education supports, nursing services, and a Coordinator of Student Opportunities to guide the student from enrollment through graduation.
JCFA’s shortened day and year-round schedule allows students to create a flexible schedule to accommodate their needs. A student working on pace can graduate in less than three years but has the flexibility to adjust that timeline to meet their non-academic needs. Students are given the opportunity to pursue multiple diploma track options and are directly connected to dual enrollment as well as career and technical education courses with local community colleges.

Where We Serve
JCFA is a pioneer in non-traditional alternative education and serves students with two campuses in Jefferson Parish and one in Lafayette.
JCFA is excited to announce that our campus in East Baton Rouge is now open to serve students from the Greater Baton Rouge community. The campus is co-located on the Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) Automotive Training Center grounds, providing students with direct access to dual enrollment opportunities and career and technical education through BRCC.
